Mike Day wins Knowle Gold Medal

Posted by Ryan Coles  |  Posted on 12th August 2012

Mike Day (Henbury) - pictured courtesy of Tom Ward Sport, emerged victorious from a marathon play off with home favourite Sam Morgan to win the Knowle Gold Medal.

Both had tied on a 36 hole total of 137 and then a 4 hole playoff over Knowle's "loop" of holes 10, 11, 12 and 13 was not enough to separate them. It was only when Morgan finally made a mistake and unluckily bogied the 10th, the 5th play off hole, that Day finally sealed his biggest win to date.

Congratulations to Mike, commisserations to Sam - his time will come and thanks especially to all those who gave up their time to make what was another excellent day for the Club: Brian Meredeth, Nick Durston, Jim Morgan, Nigel Sollars, Howard Cleaton and last but not least, our referee, Frank Stone.

Thanks and praise are also due to our green staff Mike, Paul, Kevin, Chris and Alan. The quality of the course they consistently produce is the main reason the event is over subscribed every year.

Louis O'Regan wins Club Championship

Posted by Ryan Coles  |  Posted on 17th June 2012

Louis O'Regan won the Knowle Club Championship for the second time with solid rounds of 69 and 71 for a total of 140.

It was good enough to see off the challenge of playing partner Brad Selwood and it also withstood a late surge from Sam Morgan, both of whom finished just one shot adrift on 141.

O'Regan led from start to finish and his win sees him build on an excellent start to the season after finishing third in the Gloucestershire County Championships.

Afterwards he was quick to pay tribute to the golf course which as always was presented brilliantly by Mike Sage and the Greenkeeping team.
